With everyone quarantining due to coronavirus, date life has been completely turned upon its head. At first it wasn’t possible to go out anywhere for a date, and now if you go out to a bar or the like for a date, you’re kind of an asshole, considering that we’re still experiencing a global pandemic. Since we can't be like Taylor Swift and Harry Styles in 2012, I compiled a list of the things my boyfriend and I have been doing this quarantine in case you’ve exhausted all of your ideas.

1. COVID testing

This is fun because you get to watch your date get a swab shoved in their nasal cavity. If you’re lucky, the testing site will have self-administered testing and you get to watch them shove the swab in their own nose, self-inflicted discomfort! On the serious side, if someone thinks this is a stupid date idea, this can be a date you go on by yourself, or a date you go on with your good morals because you want to make sure you’re not a carrier.

2. Decorating/making masks

In states where you’re required to wear a mask under mask mandate this is a necessary activity. Yeah, you could just buy and wear disposable masks but not only are those wasteful (and costly overtime) - they look so drab! Even if you’re not good with sewing you can buy a reusable masks and add little details like rhinestones making you not only considerate of those around you when you wear your mask but also fashionable as f*ck!

3. Planning vacations for 2025

If you’re someone like me, who loves traveling and saw several of your trips cancelled because of Miss Rona, you might be longing for the feeling you get when going on a new trip. Sometimes planning the trip can be just as fun as going on it! Start planning a trip for when thing are *hopefully for sure* clear. Since you’ll have several years to financially prepare for the trip do it up! Plan a road trip where you don’t stop until you run into the Hex Girls (and hopefully ditch your date to marry one) like the Mystery Gang in that one episode of Scooby Doo.

4. Seeing who can eat the most bags of chips in one day

Eating chips is a great activity, you can find chips that fit any dietary needs and restrictions or even make your own. This is fun because it can be paired with almost anything: watching tv, petting a dog, painting, getting drunk on the couch; the possibilities are endless.

5. Crying about all of the places you can’t and SHOULD NOT be going (i.e. the bar)

This one really takes you back to those pre-21 days, and if you’re not 21 this is even more perfect. Sit down with your date and share past bar stories or even create fake ones about how slammed you’d be if you were at the bar right now, then maybe cry… just a little bit.

6. Stay in bed all day and scroll through your phones together

For you lonely, introverts: find a date and then just invite them over to lay around and scroll through your phones together, occasionally showing each other memes. If the person is down for this, they’d probably be a pretty chill live-in partner.

7. Go to a restaurant and ACTUALLY sit 6 ft away from your date

Yes, restaurants are open again, but it feels kind of weird going out to a restaurant and sitting so close to someone sans masks. So, while restaurants should be avoided if you’re craving that yummy local restaurant food, call up your person of interest and go actually sit 6 feet away at that bombass, local vegan spot. #supportlocalbusiness

8. Make some homemade hand sanitizer

While, it’s pretty easy to go find hand sanitizer at the store once again, what’s the fun in that? Grab the ingredients needed from the directions below, and make you s

Mix oregano oil with coconut oil or olive oil for a simple hand sanitizer. Combine six drops of oregano oil with two tablespoons of coconut oil and rub it into your hands as a natural moisturizer and hand sanitizer.

9. Make a list of 2020 date ideas

Just like this list!

10. Binge watch Avatar in one day

Saved the best for last. This applies for dates even post-COVID, assuming those days will come before we all perish. Avatar is on Netflix now. Soooooo…..there is no reason not to watch this amazing show. (Then come back and tell me who your favorite character is!)
